Pennick talks about the Web of Wyrd, Orlog, Fate, Fortune, and the cosmology of the Harmony of the Spheres in the second chapter.
Let's think about what some of these mean to us, and our own experiences with destiny and luck.
I'm curious what your understandings are... Here are mine:
Web of Wyrd - the fabric of reality co-created by all beings
Orlog - the fixed truth of the past that leads us to the present moment and our own location in time/space and circumstance.
Fate - a predestined state of being that cannot be avoided
Fortune - the random element of chance that influences us from outside what we take for granted
Harmony of the Spheres - the music made by the celestial bodies that sing together in their various vibrations
Destiny - Something we craft from our experiences and hopes
Luck - the karma associated with our relationship to the situation
What other terms and concepts do we have around fate and fortune?
And to what extent do you think or feel you are in control of your life?
Do you have a strong internal locus of control, or is it more external?
Is there balance between personal power and the powers that be?
Let me know if you want to explore this or other questions, stories and topics around predetermination and freedom! Always happy to chat.
