Plans for Future Services
If you are interested in joining an ongoing social or workshop group, please contact me!
In the works: LIVE CHAT. I am attempting to add a live chat feature to the page for participants in these services to interact with each other and other seekers who access the page.
I am working on developing a bi-weekly series of get-togethers for spiritual and spirituality-friendly folks.
Ideas I have fall under the following categories:
Arts and Culture
In this series we may read and discuss books, listen to and discuss music, have song circles, drumming circles, write poetry and prayers, or do crafts that celebrate our beliefs and practices.
Faith Traditions
In this series we may look at various religions and spiritual traditions from around the world and throughout history. For example, aboriginal beliefs and practices, the Big Five religions, early Christianity, new religious movements, New Age, Secular Humanism, and more.
Young Adult Meet-Up
In this series we will look at the ways that local youth experience religion and spirituality in their daily lives through lively discussion on topics chosen by the youth themselves. Topics such as religious music (like Christian Rock and Pagan Metal), Church youth groups and Sunday schools, Public vs. Separate Schools, wearing symbols of your faith, asking difficult questions with challenging answers, exploring beliefs and practices that your family does not share, and any other topics that are relevant and interesting to youth would be appropriate. For the purposes of this group, "youth" would be in the "upper transitional" age range from 19 - 29 years of age.
Workshops and Outings
In this series we will explore religion and spirituality with an experiential approach. We may visit services at churches and temples, honour various holidays, learn about advanced spiritual topics such as divination, symbolism, angels, places of power, meditation / visualisation, liturgy and ceremony. Or we may have a guest speaker attend to speak with us about a topic interesting to the group.
Women's Sunday Afternoon Spirituality Circle
In this group, all stripes of female-identified adults are invited to join and discuss a weekly topic about spirituality or self-actualization. We will check in to see how you have been doing, share light refreshments, pamper ourselves with DIY spa treatments and hold space for any women who do not have the privilege and empowerment that we are grateful for. This is maintained as a safe space for sharing with our sisters.
Note: For those among you who are male-identified, I believe that there are several co-ed and male-led, male-attended spirituality honouring events and groups for you out there already. If there is not one that is right for you, I encourage you to start up your own group! Let me know if you would like some tips on engaging your community.
In many cases, if it's really a point of contention for some other reason, we'll whip out the clothing exchange and you can find a skirt to sport or something, but the energy/vibe has to be non-invasive. I've done this for poker nights, but it's really a different scene on ladies' days and it will probably not interest you anyway. YET... I'm all about honouring what you are called to witness or experience. I'll take a vote.
